So last year for Mother's Day, my son gave me a pot of purple and white striped Petunias. I saved the seeds and planted them this year. They just started blooming. I have a pot of solid purple and solid white petunias, no stripes. They are pretty.

datgirl, Mine are blooming too. All purple from saved seed last year. Your striped ones must have been hybrid, but hey, you got free flowers!

Exactly. I figured they wouldn't be true to last year. Glad at least they aren't all white flowers.

I planted white petunias in daughters urns on her back porch and they are still producing! We’ve had a couple frosts and 30o nights but they are still blooming. Need to save that seed for sure.

I planted three different petunia varieties…ten seeds per envelope. Two varieties had 100% germination. I’m still waiting for #10 in the third tray.
Growing your own plants from seed is such a cost saver…if you just have to have petunias.
