Spearmint or ginger for upset stomach. Cilantro for anti-flatulence. For chest congestion, red sumac berry tea (tastes like lemonade) or smoked mullein leaves (yes, smoking them seems counterintuitive, but trust me). Garlic for cholesterol issues and general health...there are others.

Wheelgarden, I’m all ears/eyes!! We had a tea like concoction for sore throat and cough in a previous life, that really helped, but I dare not call and ask for the recipe.😂

centralilrookie, Black cherry and/or elderberry syrups and teas are really good to treat sore throats. A simple honey and lemon juice mix is really good, too. These are only my personal experiences. Your mileage may vary. I'm not a doctor, nor did I play one on tv, but they do work for me and mine. I hope I'm not breaking protocol here on the forum with this subject.

It seems that every time I get a cold, the cough sticks around forever. I've been on a steady diet of cough drops for almost two weeks and cough syrups don't seem to help much. So last evening I decided to try out the lemon balm elixir I made a few months ago and I was actually able to sleep a few hours. Not to say I didn't have a coughing fit in the middle of the night, but just one instead of every hour. So now I need to make sure the horehound seedlings get planted and I have a clear path to the elderberry bushes so I can collect berries this year.

Garlic clove crushed with honey - Everyday to just help general health. Garlic oil for ear ache, or I have even slept with a clove stuck in my ear. Added benefit no nighttime vampires. chamomile tea to relax and just because it is yummy Mullien tea and or smoke for congestion and chest colds (and sars2) Dandelion tea for stomach issues (extra strong if you need things to move on thru) Dandelion salve for cuts and scrapes Marshmallow root tea, for kidney stones and urinary issues catnip tea , tummy upset and to relax tulsi (holy basil) tea for stress relief, to also boost mental clarity & makes a great mouthwash.
I have more, but these are the ones that came to the top of my memory bank, and that I use a lot.

Peppers for pain. The more endorphins in the body, the less pain we feel!

I'd be sorely remiss if I didn't mention cranberry --- whether fresh, or juiced, or in a concentrate capsule --- for urinary tract problems. Susceptible to UT problems, yet I've been off those darned old harsh pharmy antibiotics for many years now, thanks to cranberry.

Well I'm getting to try the jewelweed and witch hazel infusion I made last year. Even with wearing long pants, long-sleeved shirt, gloves and thoroughly washing my hands I still managed to get some patches of poison ivy on my legs from the fence removal last week.

Tried to grow it several years ago, but I flubbed it. Horehound mixed with rock candy was an effective go-to remedy, way back when I was young.

I'm a real fan of ginger tea/lozenges/candies. Suffer from Vertigo and a nice hot cup of ginger tea really calms the spins down. I carry a container of lozenges with me (and a plastic bag) for when I go out walking.
I also have some triple strength candies called Gin Gins which I don't think do too much but they taste good!
One of my neighbours gave me a box of Pukka Three Ginger Tea and that is very nice too.

Well I'm now a believer in the jewelweed and witchhazel infusion. I ended up with five patches of poison ivy on my legs. Two of those were the size of my hand and very itchy. It bothered me the most at night and I started applying the infusion when the itching became unbearable. It provided enough relief that I was able to sleep. Thursday marked a week since I was exposed and the rash is just about dried up. I didn't have a severe case this time (and I'm glad) but I can definitely tell a difference. Will be making another batch as soon as the jewelweed is ready.

Many people have reported good results from using Dandelion root. This herb is thought to help stimulate and tone the liver and to remove toxins from your body. While Dandelion root is not suggested or approved to replace or substitute for any prescribed medication, it's still worth a try. Most natural herbal remedies are inexpensive to buy and offer a lot of benefits to your body.

I keep dandelion in the garden and yard, and occasionally make a nice coffee-tasting beverage from the roasted roots. It's a good diuretic, too. I want to someday try making wine from the blooms. The bees love it, too.

Noticed the lemon balm elixir is down to around 1/4 of the bottle and plan to start another batch soon. I've found it to be more effective than OTC cough medicines. Also made that wild garlic bulbil elixir last fall and found it to be entirely too strong for my taste. I hate to waste it so will experiment with diluting it. Yellow dock is also in the perfect stage to harvest so may dig a few roots this week.
