Most years, there’s something that I intended to plant…but then, forgot to buy the seeds. Or, bought the seeds and forgot to plant them.
I truly wanted to try growing a variety of long cucumbers. While I had not decided on which variety I might grow, I wanted to try something new and different. Who knows…perhaps I might have had a better cucumber season than I did this year. Maybe next year.
Did you forget to plant something this year? Care to share?

I won't say I forgot, more like 'never got around to'... I was taking a bit of a break at the beginning of this last season, and never got around to planting any cukes , no green beans (bush Romanos) , and no kabocha squash r-e-p-l-a-c-e , nor any pumpkins including hulless ones . I was so late to sow zucchini seeds, I ended up buying a pony pack at a nursery. And I had viable seeds for all of them.... As the old Brooklyn Dodgers fans used to say: W ait 'til next year!

My problem is having far too many items for the space I have, because I forgot what space I had left, when getting more! When I map my garden out, I usually have to cross out some one by one, until all spaces are filled.

I forgot how big the Joe Pye Weed gets in one of my garden beds and I put a leftover tomato plant next to that bed. Well that poor little tomato plant never had a chance. I wrote a reminder in my garden journal not to plant there again or to dig out some of the Joe Pye.

My tomatoes (outside of the small ones like the Sungold) just did not do well this year due to the heat just as they were at the peak of pollination. I should have planted more and several types just to see what did the best when weather challenged. My flowers all did well. As for the vegetables, I didn't forget to plant too many things, just could have used more of certain ones like bush beans.
