I'm cutting spearmint to-morrow for tasty stomach-calming infusion, and lemon balm for mosquito/tick repellent tincture since I don't have lemongrass in this year. I cut them right before they flower, to get the most out of them. They both grow right back, and I'll be able to cut again in autumn.

Well I'm going to be experimenting with jewelweed today as I have a bit of poison ivy. Probably will be an infusion but need to get some beeswax and experiment with making a salve or balm as I know I'll likely have a bit of rash from now until fall.

emmsmommy I can just look at poison ivy and get the itch from it. Tried rubbing raw jewelweed on it, and it did help. Never tried an infusion or salve with it. Hmmm.

Emsmommy...my daughter has a wash made specially poison ivy..you have to know you’ve been exposed and use it though. I’ll ask her the name of it. She swears by it.

I have found that eucalyptus and basil work pretty well for bug repellant, solution made with coconut oil. And Bath/Beauty Citrus body spray is effective for gnats. In my experience.
