I love the flexible garden hoses that lay flat, are light weight, and don’t kink. We have had five, all the same brand. Three have failed. I’m looking for one that doesn’t fail so quickly. The brand we have been using has a five year guarantee...I don’t want to deal with that. $35 for a 50 foot hose is getting a bit pricy.
Do you have a favorite brand that lasts a few years?

I don’t know brand of ours but they are really old. Heavy 100 ft hoses. They are over 13 yrs old. They don’t make them to last anymore.

We have 4 hoses- 75 ft length- heavy rubber Craftsman- that we got from Sears when we first moved to the orchard 24 years ago and they are in great shape, still. They even get left out over winter. They probably don't make them like they did 24 years ago but they still might be better than many on the market. It's worth the extra $$ if they are going to last a long time.

I haven't bought a hose in decades, as I'm still using the ones I bought back in the 1980s. A hose that lays flat and doesn't kink would be an ideal hose; a few of mine do, others don't. I probably bought them from Frank's Nursery which has long since gone out of business.
Interesting question; I haven't thought of buying hoses in years.

My good old hoses are from sears as well. They are 50’ plus long and like wrestling an alagator. I have tried a hose that expands...they aren’t durable. Last season I bought a Hercules metal coil type...it sprang a leak from in between the coils and THAT was expensive. It doesn’t kink. It glides smoothly but it’s not completely tangle free. It is easier to move around than the heavy old ones. I even ran a cheep hose down to the garden and left it in place and grass grew over it. I mow over it. From harbor freight. Inexpensive. Stayed outside for 3 winters..emptied of course. Under $30 for 100’. It feeds the soaker hoses in the garden. (DW great idea) Today I’m finally going to contact Hercules for a replacement. I’ll let you know how it goes.
