There is a good chance that I "might" break even on the tomato and pepper plants I bought this year as opposed to just buying the tomatoes and peppers from the store. Prices will be going up as the price of fuel to transport them rises. At least you're close to where they grow a lot of veggies for the US market.

armjr, I always look for doubles too. For instance I wanted to get a few more Quinault strawberries and managed to find pots with 2 and 3 plants in them, which brought the cost down considerably. I used to do the same with tomatoes too but haven’t bought any in years as I grow some that aren’t available locally. I’ve grown all my vegetable starts this year and hope to grow all my flowers and herbs next year as well.
