Kicked them out of the house today. All 40 of them. I started 2 kinds. Late Dutch Flathead and Burpee All Seasons. Planted 12 here. The rest go to dad’s. The All Seasons is good for just what it says. Love the Dutch. Huge heads 10 lbs or more.
Mumsey,Do you cover your cabbage? I covered mine one year and that kept the moths off, but then I had slugs eating them from the inside out. I tried the crushed egg shells around the base of the plant, but they seemed to always wash away. Do you have a slug problem with yours?

datgirl, I tent my brassicas for a good part of the growing season and the crushed egg shells work well here. Haven't had one slug since I began using them. I start saving them for a couple months before I need them and put into and old bread bag. I do wash them out first but they crush real well when they dry.
