Yeah, I always have sprouts come up before the really start to hibernate, but they're unusually early and tall this year. 4-5 inches is normal, but not this early. Hard to say how tall they'll get before they go dormant. They've endured a covering of 2-3 feet of snow in the past, so that isn't typically a concern.

Every year is different. You can't do a darned thing about the weather, so you just plant, weed, water and hope for a crop. Plant a variety of things. Something is likely to do good.
