By special processing, immature vegetables and fruits can be converted into good food. These immature long beans can be cut into pea-size pieces and cooked like peas. Figs, even in this condition, stew up well.

It's done. The garden is bare except for the asparagus which has not died back yet. Garlic is in and covered. Just waiting for the rest of the leaves to fall, to use as more ground cover. I'm taking out all vegetation which might be any kind of critter cover. There's plenty of cover for them under the neighbor's shed.

My Fall clean up came to a screeching halt when we got 6" of snow on Monday/Tuesday. I need to rake and shred leaves to blanket the beds but won't be able to do that until they dry up a bit.
Otherwise the garden is done here, too. The overnight lows that came with the snow- at around 20ΒΊ- turned what was still green to mush.
