Don't know what you are canning Mumsey, but some things freeze beautifully and you can reuse seals for freezing.

desertwoman , Yes, I freeze things not suitable for canning. Broccoli, chard, kale, corn, mushrooms, peaches, chili, celery, peppers and end of season tomatoes. Seems at the end of the season I get lazier and freezing is soooo easy! DD found one package of jar seals at Dollar General, they are Golden Harvest brand for $2! Has anyone used those?

Saw ads on Facebook yesterday, seems facebook is saturated with those ads. $2.97, but closer reading I found that's for 6 seals! Just plain nuts. I wonder if they are opening the packages and breaking them down into 6's. I've never seen them in 6 packs.
This Winter every time I go somewhere I'll look for them and start stock piling if possible. Let's all do that, then share amongst ourselves!

Let's all do that, then share amongst ourselves! Good idea. Need to get larger, wide-mouthed jars, too. Maybe when things settle down.

I've seen jars here and there, but no lids or rings.

I did see a few boxes of quart jars at Menards yesterday, Anchor Hocking brand, $.9.99. Not buying jars just for the seals though!

Went on a website and saw jars for $14.99. Correction, that was jar, as in one jar. Ridiculous. Still have three dozen pint jars left and may run to Lowes, as I am inundated with pickling cukes and still have to pickle the peppers I haven't picked yet. (Left out that some are Peter peppers and some pimentos. That would be an onerous sentence.)

www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHN522kAvbgHeard a few good ideas here yesterday, for getting jars. One is if you know anybody who goes to a senior center, they can ask around. Seniors who no longer can veggies often have boxes of jars sitting around in the garage that they would like to see go to someone who carries on the canning tradition. Also mentioned, if you are in a rural area, are farm auctions, as well as garage sales.
