I can’t imagine that she would be anything but proud to share and show her lovely handiwork! And I need to comment on this...no kneeler pad or bench! Kudos to her!

claude, I did buy her a bench that doubles as a kneeler that she does use from time to time. If her back is bothering her she will sit on the bench and use a long handle dandelion fork to dig up the weed and then use one of those reach extenders to pick up whatever. She is determined.....

My sis got me one of those bench/kneelers for my birthday this year. I'm really not ready for it yet, but I did sit on it- in the kneeler position- after it had rained and I did some weeding. It kept my butt dry.

I have one of those sit flip kneel ones too that helped me get back into the garden after an accident. I love it! No more muddy knees. Because you can use the legs for balance on sloping ground they keep me secure. Also fewer deer ticks from sitting and kneeling on the ground. Every once in a while I’ll use the sitting part...more for a water break.

I did buy her a bench that doubles as a kneeler Mine gets more use as a place to sit while filling the chicken waterers or contemplating what to put where. Sometimes it's a tool holder. Unfortunately it's a few inches too high for me to be able to plant or weed comfortably, even though I have long arms. Can use for picking beans- right height for that. I guess I just like being a bit closer to the ground. Bought a thick pad to sit and scoot around on that will keep the butt dry. Kneeler is good for helping one get into a standing position from sitting on the ground, a feature I need to use a lot these days.

So you've probably figured out that I have more ideas than time to implement them. With the removal of the large maple, I now have an area of full sun that was previously shady. So high on the list of priorities is moving shade plants and wildflowers to a shady area and maybe, just maybe, plant divisions of some overgrown perennials alongside the house. Then maybe the preformed pond could go back where it originally was, I could add a few daylilies and iris, redo the stone patio, etc...

centralilrookie, I'm always pleased and excited to read of other older women who are still gardening! It's inspirational.

centralilrookie, do I see daffodils in that green bucket? Your mom digs the daffys when they quit blooming?

binnylou, I’m not sure what her plans are but some might be going to my oldest daughter’s house as mom is trying to pass on her appreciation for flowers……

She really needs to leave the daffodils be until the leaves at least "start" to yellow & die back. Digging them so early really saps their strength, & they may not bloom again for several years.

After you posted centralilrookie, it crossed my mind that just possibly your mom is not digging her daffodils, but is rescuing some dug by another daffodil grower.
