Peonies...on my windowsill. The white peony was heavy with βstarting to openβ buds, and I knew the rain would ruin those hanging so low. So, I brought some in to enjoy...they are fully open and sharing their fragrance.

Not the best picture, but I was thrilled to discover this columbine. Originally these came from my grandmothers garden and at one time they had seeded profusely and were everywhere. I hadn't seen any in three or four years and assumed they were gone. Now to watch it and scatter the seed.

Miss Kimm lilac is blooming, she has a very strong lilac fragrance. Chives, blue flax (love those), perennial verbena, perennial dianthus and soon the salvia.

Here's some of the native White Milkweed (Asclepias variegata) that I have here. Not particularly showy, but kinda unique, and somwhat rare. I also have a clump of Butterfly Weed, (A. tuberosa) which is spreading out nicely and also blooming (pictures upcoming!)

Another native milkweed, "Butterfly Weed" I tried to grow Butterfly Weed but was unsuccessful. One grew naturally on a ditch bank less than two miles away.

tom π, this is one that we dug from a ditchside just a few hundred yards away, with the landowner's permission. It lived but languished for several years, then suddenly began blooming and spreading a bit.

this is one that we dug from a ditchside just a few hundred yards away All sorts of wild flowers and herbs grow in ditches here -- lobelia cardinalis, boneset, Joe Pye, passiflora, calamus, ... They are guarded by poison ivy so dangerous to get to. I was in a ditch collecting something my mother wanted, and a guy walking down the road said, "Have you seen that big fellow yet?" I said, "I haven't seen anything," and he said, "I saw a rattlesnake right where you are standing."
