It is a riot of spring color in my gardens, right now:
hesperis (aka dame's rocket); iris- various shades of purples, violets, mauve; yellow yarrow just starting to open; golden orange California poppies; purple lilacs; red coral bells; low growing mediterranean spurge (yellow); and groundcovers sweet woodruff (white), veronica turkish speedwell (blue)
and some mustard greens in the lettuce patch have bolted already into yellow flowers.

Some things that I don't want do (i.e. greens), but also some chives, sage, and something I just noticed today - tomatillos. I might pull those, and hope that they get some more growth on them - that cold may have triggered this.

One single tomato is blooming, but it had that bloom before I planted it. Peppers are blooming but they are not yet planted. Columbine...the salmon and yellow variety...is just almost blooming. Perhaps tomorrow.
Wave petunias are blooming, but they are waiting for their summer home to be vacated by the orioles. Hubby has been putting oranges in the deck planter and the orioles, along with the grosbeak and catbird are spending too much time there to plant the baskets.

James that tree is beautiful! We had a surprise frost a couple of weeks ago that did a lot of damage to the fruit trees. So we missed seeing most of them produce flowers.
Right now, we have the last of the white lilacs blooming, the quince bush is blooming with little red rose type flowers and there is a California poppy that came up last year from a wildflower mix, wintered over and now much bigger with lots of the pretty orange flowers. Iris and white spirea are just about ready to bloom too.

James, nice! We have the same tree and want to plant a whole line of them, all around the house. And for now I'm looking for weed barrier which I want to set all around the trees and some plants, just to separate weed and make everything much cleaner.

We've been doing a modified version of the "No-Mow May" thing. The clover, dandelion, violet, and others are everywhere --- and accordingly, the bees, butterflies and skippers, and other good insects are present in large numbers.
