I scored a lot of fresh bamboo for poles use in trellises...Am stripping off all the leaves and wondered if the leaves could just be used as mulch in the garden...looked that up before doing it and found different opinions on that... Some said yep that's fine...Other said, no, that the rutin and orientin in the bamboo would inhibit plant growth and render the soil unable to promote growth, for lack of a better term... That got me wondering if using fresh bamboo poles and woven trellises of fresh bamboo would leach the 'toxins' to the climbing bean plants... I also read it was recommended to hot compost the leaves first before using as mulch...I can't do that right now as I don't have enough other ingredients to make that happen... I would not be planting and using the trellises until the end of May, so the poles have that much time to begin to dry... I'm no scientist so I have no idea... Any thoughts, please?... kimmsr🕊 ... gardendmpls ...Been thinking of you in NY and hoping you and all your family are doing well and your sons are continuing to heal... Thanks ahead for any input...

Yes we are fine, especially since the retirement board finally figured out a way for us to turn in our papers on line. Twelve weeks and I am out of here. Spending most of my day and night on line with creating schoolwork, grading it, dealing with tech problems and helping kids deal with their stress. They finally realized they were asking us to burden the kids (and parents) with too much work, so we are lightening up, which I was already doing, but now its official. The governor cancelled Spring break so we could keep the kids off the streets. I thought that was done by parents and their rules. I presume next they'll want us doing weekends, too. Teacher as babysitter mentality. The parents are angry, too, as many have several kids and don't have time to teach all of them a full days classwork. It also makes problems for people of various religions who can't work on their respective holy days. Just hope they won't take it out of my paycheck, especially since I'm not getting paid for the the week anyway (at least not that anyone's worked out yet). Not that I'm worried, because...twelve weeks.
