Does anyone toss a salad? Sounds like it would make a mess. I cut through leaves on a plate with kitchen shears, add my dressing ingredients (horseradish (getting short), mustard, and garlic vinegar), and then cut through the pile some more. The salad is then raked to one side of the plate, and my meal goes in the empty space. Clean up is easy.

Yup. When I'm making a large bowl of salad to make several servings I always toss it. A little dressing in the bottom of the bowl, & then the salad ingredients, then lightly & gently fold all together until just glistening. "Toss" is really just a term for "fold" - you don't really toss the salad all over the place - lol!

Always. And no mess. Like breezy, lightly, gently toss or fold in my wood salad bowl. I use a wood salad serving fork and spoon to toss. If it's a salad just for me I make it in a one serving bowl or on a plate and do the same toss with my eating fork. And I always tear the lettuce leaves into preferred bite sized pieces rather than cut with knife or shears. Torn lettuce is supposedly easier to eat with a fork. I just like the irregular shapes. (I do cut lettuce in thin strips for tacos)

I toss salads all the time. If a green leaf type salad, I toss it in a large bowl, then put dressing on it when served, in a smaller bowl. The bean, grain, pasta, and vegetable salad - the kinds I eat a lot in the summer - I place all of the items in the bowl, along with the dressing ingredients, then gently fold them into the ingredients, to mix, and prevent breaking the beans, tomatoes, and other ingredients up too much.

I usually make salad one serving at a time. In the summer I will make a large bowl to last 3-4 days. Last night I tried something a little different. I put an apple in along with some walnuts. Caesar dressing and a little brown sugar. Yum.

I toss salads all the time. Now that I have them, I am using garlic chives in my salads.
