Yes. Was a good year. Got plenty. They have a strange flower. I forgot I'd planted them and was puzzled by the fringed, white flower.

I am trying lots of new items this year but the super-hot peppers will be my official newbie. I've heard that some varieties are difficult to grow and I think it will be an interesting summer, especially with all the good tips I'm getting here.

Kitty grass seed is on the way, along with another freebie. I probably should not grow this on the grow light rack. I donβt think Kitty has ever bothered my seed flats, she does get up on the laundry room counter and the washer/dryer. She seems to like the spin cycle. Rides it to the end.

I'd be happy to just grow ANYTHING I've grown BEFORE! Curley Top continues to decimate my garden each year. Last year I lost 100% of my tomatoes, beets, carrots, melons, cucumbers, and pumpkins. It's gotten so bad that I'm tempted to not even bother with a garden this year. Maybe plant some corn and that's it.

weedkicker, Where are you growing? I don't remember reading where you live. Do you normally plant a large garden?

Binneylou, I live in the middle of the Escalante desert in southwestern Utah, and yes, I plant (or used to) a large garden. Over the past several years it has dwindled in size however, mostly because of the Curly Top problem.
Tom and gardendmpls, I appreciate the suggestions, I really do, but Iβve tried everything. And I mean everything. Row covers Reemay Planting in shade Planting densely Neem oil Resistant (supposedly) tomatoes Spraying with Surround (kaolin clay) Spraying with reconstituted milk (donβt ask) Fasting and prayer...
Reemay or other kinds of cover might work elsewhere, but here itβs impossible to keep ANYTHING covered due to our incessant, screaming, spring winds. The Escalante desert is not a garden friendly environment.

weedkicker, I thought curly top only affected tomatoes. I did a little reading, and see what you are dealing with.

I live in the middle of the Escalante desert Against such adversity, you need fortification. Maybe a pit greenhouse covered with screen and removable plastic. I grow in fearful tires. Tractor tires covered with screen would give you protection without excavation.

I'm in also. Just don't know what it will be but probably a flower of some sort. I know I ordered some different ones....have to look and see. Will report back. I should probably try this for my kitty, Pecan.

DH found a packet of seeds in the big box of stuff he was shredding. Barley Grass, don't have any idea where it came from. Package says its for your pets to eat, to satisfy their need to eat grass and to maintain nutrients. I put some seeds in a pot to see if they grow. So far nothing after 4 days. Maybe 20 seeds in the packet. Looks like it's a superfood for people too: www.organicfacts.net/health-benefits/cereal/barley-grass.html

Hope it grows, Mumsey, Grass generally takes a bit longer to germinate, doesn't it?

Lawn grass does but these seeds are large like grain. Reminds me of oat seeds.
