One of my projects this morning, mid-summer colors. I gave this one to a neighbor, she doesn't get out much and especially loves glads and sunflowers.

Mumsey, lovely combination; I like the blend of the delicate glads, the earthy sunflowers and cheerful zinnias. That's very kind of you to create that bouquet for your neighbor.

Honeysuckle: any experience with an early to mid summer blooming honeysuckle seguing into a repeat or everblooming vine? My honeysuckle, inherited from the previous owners, typically blooms regularly in June or July, weather dependent. This year, it's still blooming, not as prolifically, but still enough to emit its lovely fragrance.
I'm glad that it's still blooming; I'm just wondering if the extensive heat might be the cause, or if it somehow has segued into blooming for a much longer period, or (hopefully) for the rest of the summer. Has anyone experienced this, either in honeysuckle, or another blooming vine, or other typically limited bloom flower?

SpringRain, My honeysuckles always have an initial bloom late spring into summer, a pause, and then repeat bloom. It is blooming now! The hummers love it. I don't know what varieties they are I inherited the one here at home- it has orange flowers. At the house in town they have white with yellow flowers. They also do a repeat bloom. One of them I started from a cutting I took when we left the orchard- it's 18 years old.

desertwoman, thanks for the info. I wonder why mine never bloomed a second time, but on the other hand, I've forgotten so much this year that they may actually have had a second bloom. Mine are also white with yellow flowers, and a lovely scent. They border the garage, but the fragrance rarely is blown toward the house since the prevailing winds don't blow that way. Occasionally though, I'll get a brief scent of the blooms while I'm in the house. I haven't taken cuttings yet; just haven't gotten around to it, but hope to do so when the cooler weather moves in. For the cutting you took, did you plant it directly in the soil or start it in a small pot?

SpringRain,I started it in a paper cup filled with wet sand. Once it rooted I then put it in a pot until I could plant it at the new house. I don't remember what I filled the pot with, but knowing me it was probably garden soil I dug up from the yard mixed with some compost.

Honeysuckle is a wild thing here and can be invasive. It does smell nice though!

Heavenly Blue Morning glories. Bust. Vines look beautiful but not a single bloom! I was reading about them, and what I found says they will not bloom if the soil is too fertile.
Guess I have really great soil. What a problem to have, right? Maybe they will go in a pot next year.

Tall, vivid-purple ironweed and towering pink joe pye weed are in bloom at the edges of the garden area. Me and the butterflies, moths, and others are loving it. Found another orange milkweed ("Butterfly weed") clump to transplant to a better spot this fall.

orange milkweed ("Butterfly weed") I noticed something odd about mine this year, it bloomed and seemed to be going to make seeds. It did, now it's blooming again. I've never seen it bloom twice in the same season. I haven't done any trimming to it.

Harvested seed from these marigolds. They are 12-15" high and just as wide. They are seed I have saved for 20 years! I have tons of seed, happy to share! I have no idea what variety, they are from one that I got from DS when he was in 4th grade.
