Asparagus. In the spring cut everything that comes and take it into the kitchen. June 1 stop cutting, fertilize and water. You will let the new growth go tall and let it stand until September. It is this tall growth that puts down nutrients and stores into the roots that will support next years Spring crop. Have fun. www.flickr.com/photos/148851736@N08/28058560058/

Have not gardened in zone 7A. Here, yes full sunshine. Fertilize, water, weed. Good luck!
Here when planting asparagus, we look for some 2 year old crowns, t hen take a shovel and dig a trench about 8 inches deep. Put in the crowns and cover it up with soil. Fill the trench back in. You don't cut any of that first years growth. Just let it grow up tall and stand till first frost in the fall. It is this time in the sun that the plant puts down stores into the roots that will support next years spring crop. In the spring you cut all of the spears and they go to the kitchen Come June first, stop cutting, fertilize, water and let it grow up tall. That tall growth stands till the first killing frost in September. Then you can mow it down.

15 degrees, calm, sunny, the only thing growing here is ice. So I take the wild birds some seed and come sit in front of the computer screen.
So, what is going on over there?

No snow around here yet this winter except for a few dustings... Looks as if you're getting it for us, James... That's some beautiful scenery...

Not my kind of scenery James, probably why I live in south Texas.
At 80 yo I'd say you've earned time off, enjoy it whatever you do. My plant is similar to yours, plant fruit trees and when I get too old to garden maybe I can pick a fruit off one of the trees now and then.

Why won't the D.... pic load? It won't load because you aren't doing the right things to make it load. You certainly aren't following instructions for posting pictures that have been given in this forum, but no matter. I enjoy your pictures. Without your pictures, Utah would be a huge blank space in my mind. I had no idea of its beauty and spaciousness.

Is that the same place where those cows were? Guess they're staying warm in the barn. Or maybe chillin in someone's freezer.
