The electric fence should handle the raccoons...They don't jump like the fox.
And, I have a trap that fits the raccoon.
Still wondering who took out the raccoon found on the yard. Would a fox take a raccoon? If it was roadkill, the tail was still clean and fluffy.

It’s official...two fox kits, mom, and dad. Hubby saw the fox family yesterday.

Fox must think we are the local cafe. Today I found the head only of a possum. It wasn’t there late yesterday when I turned off the hydrant on the house. Then a fairly large garter snake with parts missing. That was right next to the steps of the garden shed. Hubby said the possum’s tail was on the gravel part of our driveway. Never did find that.
This is getting a bit tiresome. I wonder if we put out the live trap, the experience of being trapped for a while would cause it to relocate. I wouldn’t want to cause one of the parents to abandon the rest of the fox family. I’m guessing the kits are still in training mode.

Possible fox, round 2. I set the live trap, baited with apple. My plan was to catch the groundhog. This morning, the apple piece outside the trap was still there...the apple piece that was placed behind the footplate was still there...one of the inside apple pieces was moved so it sat next to the piece behind the footplate. There was one other piece that I had put just inside the door. It is now sitting on the steps of the garden shed, still mostly intact. This reminds me of last year, when Fox left “food” gifts, sometimes on my garden steps. I don’t want to catch Fox. It’s Groundhog who has to go. BTW...haven’t seen a chipmunk...yet.

I saw a young - not juvenile but not yet completely adult - Red fox in our yard here a couple of weeks ago. It was heartening to see, since we haven't seen any since the coyotes moved in a couple of years ago. They're a competitive species here, so you usually have just one or the other.

A new game cam arrived a few days ago. The first night there was a pic of two deer and a raccoon, in the same shot. Last night, the cam captured a shot of a fox on the yard. I haven’t seen nor heard a fox for a while. Hope he/she stays (I think). And, it’s been several days since I’ve seen a chipmunk.

Well, not a fox, but yesterday morning right before dawn I saw what I think were 2 coyotes run off into the wooded lot from my yard. They must have heard me open the door. It was nearly a full moon, but still hard to tell.
