At what point do you eliminate foods from the shopping list? Reading an article this morning about fruit juices containing heavy metals. Does our food variety just get smaller and less varied? Do we get to where we only trust what we can grow for our food supply?

Do they differentiate between conventional and organic juices (or other foods)? Many times the articles/studies do.
Besides the organics i grow. we buy almost exclusively organic foods, be it juice, grains, legumes, nuts, mayo, oils- whatever.
The only time I don't buy an organic food product is when it is not available as organic, which is rare. Fortunately our town has a great selection of organics from Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, the Food Co-op and even the conventional grocery stores that are stocking more and more organics.
What I always eliminate from the shopping list are the conventional food products that are on the Dirty Dozen list (or even further down the list) If I can't find it as an organic then I don't buy it.

our town has a great selection of organics Yes, you are lucky. The store that used to have a big selection of organic produce/juice eliminated it and now uses it as a place for refrigerated "hot specials". |

Few choices here for organic. We do have Natural Grocers and I do go there at times. It’s a little off my beaten path in the big city and I never get to Des Moines or Ames where choices are better.
It is scary the stuff we read about food. I just do the best I can.

Our nation's industrialized and pathetically mismanaged food supply is a crying shame.
