I remember a few people tried the Patterson when we could not get the Copra seed in 2018.
What I don't remember is the final comparison report.
I am going to try the Patterson in 2019. I was growing Copra along with white or yellow sweet Spanish. 2018, I just grew yellow Sweet Spanish. 2019 I am only going to grow Patterson.
Patterson description:
Long Day F1 hybrid
Extremely long storage yellow onion.
Patterson has the same firmness and storage qualities as Copra, with a larger size, better uniformity, and higher yield potential. Medium-large, blocky bulbs with dark yellow skin and thin necks that dry quickly.

lisaann, I did grow the Patterson from seed this year. It worked well, very nice onions. I would say they are similar to Copra. I'll grow them again!

I said I was done growing onions. I am not that good about growing onions and I am better with sets but I say that every year, because I love them so much. And I will try from seed again this year. Part of starting them from seed for me is watering them. They topple over. I try not to but at some point they do >:(

Keeping well. None have sprouted yet! That is good to hear. I've had 5 sprouted yellow Spanish now. I like them, but won't grow them in 2019. I'm only growing the Patterson this time and will start my seeds in mid January as usual.

Do you give them regular "hair" cuts? They won't be so flimsy.

lilolpeapicker, Pea! Did ya forget their haircuts? And right before you set them in the ground, they will need a haircut, and then that nailbiting 30 days till they shed their HOUSE roots and make in the ground OUTSIDE roots. Smiling! Don't Forget!

Red Wing is a nice red onion, the only place I've found it is Pinetree which is where I bought it last year. Good keeper too. I must check Sandhill Preservation for it too.

Mumsey, Yes, I have grown redwing (long day) several different years, and they keep well for me too. www.superseeds.com/products/red-wing-onion-sub-red-bullGerm 5-10 days / LONG DAY A beautiful red round onion with a very mild flavor. Color is brilliant maroon, growing paler as you get to the center of the bulb. Bulbs are firm and round. A mild addition to a salad or sandwich. This is also an excellent storage onion for months and months of enjoyment. If you need a long day.....................
