Had a possum in the driveway this afternoon, scooping up the birdseed. Aren't they supposed to be hibernating?

This guy could become a pest. I am ambivalent about possums. The will eat tomatoes and maybe other vegetables, but they also eat snails, slugs, and such.

Well, he was back again today, pepperhead212. When hubby tried to shoo him away, the possum came toward the house instead of running in the other direction. I remember one time we caught one in the live trap. He appeared to be caught sideways in the trap, but he really wasn't big enough for him to be caught. We were going to town, so we opened the trap so he could leave. But, he just stood there, sideways in the trap. He was gone when we got home.

binnylou, Possums do not hibernate. They come out during the day in Winter because it's warmer than the nights.
