Steve, I've probably chosen the wrong method to contact you, but this forum is so new to me and I haven't had time to be on long enough to figure stuff out. Do I have to log in EVERY time I visit. That sure will cut my visits down if that's the case. Thanks for a reply and thanks for starting this forum. Theresa

Theresa- you do not have to log in every time. In fact I have never logged in again since the first time.
I just tried to see if there was any steps I could remember to tell you about. The only thing I see is to look at the green banner across the top of this page. Just under it to the right you will see your name tmg and Logout next to it. Just be sure NOT to log out!

It seems to be a sporadic thing. Sometimes I get on right away; other times I've had to log on repeatedly. Don't know what that's about.

Thanks DW and Breezy. I never did click the logout button, but every time I try to get in I have to put in the useername and pw in. Recently, I only have a few minutes per visit, but try to come throughout the day. Logging in each time will cut my visits down, so I hope the issue will resolve itself. Thanks for the quick reply. Glad to be here. The thought of "losing" everyone was rather sad.
About a year ago, I posted about 3 times on Garden Web. After that, everytime I'd go to post the thing took me to page that had nothing to do with anything about posting. I wrote to them for help at least 3 times, but never got a reply. Not sure what the story is there.
OG forum was (and now the Organic Gardening Community forum is) just the right size.
Thanks again. Theresa

Hi TendingMyGarden!
Glad to see you!
All I know about all that stuff is, don't clear your cookies. I logged in and have not logged out. And Have not had to log back in. I have lost some create thread stuff though.
And I don't know if that is on my end or the forum end.
I am SO Glad you came! We will learn all this together. This place is not even a week old yet!

I've had trouble with that logging in, too - the log in screen comes up, and I click log in, and my name and dots for the password pop up, and I'm in. So it sort of "remembers me", but not entirely.
Another problem I've had is that on my tablet I can't post a reply, unless I am in the Mobile mode. In the desktop mode, which is better in the tablet, as the font is normal, while in mobile it is very small, and I can't find any way to increase it, even doing a finger spread on the screen - it just stays! I don't recall this problem on either of the other proboard forums. I guess I'll just post on my PC!

When you clear history, do you not clear cookies? Isn't how you can be tracked? I clear history every couple of days. But I don't have to clear history to have to sign back into this site. I do not log out of this site when I leave but what I do is "Quit Safari". If I don't I don't have to log back in here. If I do, I have to LOG IN. It then goes to the next screen where it has my email address and my personal code and I am in... one click on each page...I don't have to type anything back in. I did save my password on this site though.

Pea, clearing history does not clear your cookies which are temp files.
I never log out and just click on the forum icon when I want to get back online. I have never had a problem. I use a PC with Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 11.
I just logged out to see what would happen. When I clicked the icon it asked me to login BUT under the login box is a check box for remember me which I checked.
Now I stay logged in. I have tested it several times.
Check the REMEMBER ME box when you login and see what happens.
Hi Theresa, haven't seen many postings from you lately. Glad you made it over here.

I don't know why this didn't take the first time. This is my second time typing this.
You are right, BR. I checked the remember me and even when I close Safari, when I opened it again, that worked and I did not have to sign back in. I did test this a couple times. Thank you.

I also have windows 7 and IE 11. I get a line at the bottom of the page that asks me if I want the computer to remember this password. If I click yes, it stays stored even if I clear cookies & history.
I also never log out and always try to remember the "remember me" box at every forum I go to on a regular basis.

Pepperhead said "on my tablet I can't post a reply, unless I am in the Mobile mode."
FYi: I have loaned my iPad to a friend, so I'm testing this by posting from my iPhone! i would not want to do this all the time, but works! I am also interested in the fact that I can dictate instead of type on small keys. This concludes my experiment.

I have never logged out, yet have to log in every visit. Doesn't seem to be an option to save the password/name. I don't know if that is forum related or computer related? Maybe its my browser? Chrome.

I don't log out either, but I just did to see for sure that there is a "Remember Me" checkbox upper-right on the page asking for your name/password. Funny to say, the page logged me back in me so fast I didn't have chance to see it! But I'm sure it's there.
