That's awesome....I have a new bed I started putting in last year that I want to expand on...this looks like something I may want to consider. Does the plant take root along the stem or can you put down mulch under the 3-4' spread?

These are my purple Waves from 2013. Last year was not as good, but I'm going to try again.

That I can't help you with as I've only grown them in containers.
I think Lisaann here has grown them in beds, so perhaps she'll chime in & let you know.

I had them growing all over a couple of beds 2 years ago and as I recall the stems don't root. You will just get a really big plant with lots of stems that branch out. They can totally cover an area and it is beautiful. I am going to start some from seed this year.

I have a terribly big problem here with crabgrass. So I want to be able to mulch them heavily to do them. So I was just wondering. If they don't root along the stem I should be able to mulch under them to keep down any other growth.
I may have to lay down fabric cloth.

I had them in a front planter last year and they were mulched heavily...per instructions from Lisa. I had both purple and white Waves in the bed and it was pretty.

They should grow nicely right on top of the mulch.

Wave petunias don't root along the vine.
Stick some in 2 feet apart each way. Lay down newspaper and apply grass clipping or hardbulk mulch around them. Please use the newspaper and then the mulch of your choice to keep out the grass weeds! Trust me on that. You will space them far enough apart to EASILY be able to lay down your newspaper and mulch. But do it right away. As soon as your waves go in the ground, do it! They will spread fast.
Now I must say, some wave COLORS are faster than others in my opinion at growing and spreading. Lighter shades spread and grow quicker than darker shades in my garden.
I'll try to find a pic or link to show ya.

I am a zinnia person. I haven't started any yet, a bit too soon. I will be drowning in them before long. I am not going to start the marigolds this year because there is so much seed out there I am bound to be weeding them out everywhere. I never did petunias. They would be pretty I am sure.

I am not bored and I looked at them....Yours are fantastic...I remember the thread. I wondered how many you put join to get that effect. And when you say 2' apart. which way are they growing ...all around the plant? I have ordered some seeds. I can't wait.
Binny's up top look beautiful too.

2 feet apart each way, some say 2foot on center, some say way more than I can absorb........hahahha
Plant a wave, measure out 2 foot, plant another one. And if it is a wide bed, go back to the first plant and measure the other direction 2 feet and plant one ther, and then measure from the ones that are there at that moment.................................
Hey, are your trying to completely WIPE out my brain? hahahhahahaah
I KNOW you got all that! I have Always told everyone: I CAN NOT explain one dang thing! It is in my head, but never my fingers!
Hugs to ya Pea.

potted up my dahlias to individual pots yesterday. 20 plants, and I think there might be 4 different colors based on the different leaf shapes and stem colors.
Did not preview my pic: Hope it's okay:

My dahlias are out in the urns and out front, and at the end of area 5. Hubby stomped one out front, and that was my first budder. but it looks like it is starting to sprout from the base again. This is the second budder, in an urn. Neither of us can stomp this one. Now to wait to see the color. Pic:
