I found a dead bird south of our house, about a week ago. I thought it had flown into the side of the house, as this does happen sometimes. Then hubby found another one, same kind, out by the barn...then I found another one out by the garden shed..same kind...then I found another one next to the camper...same kind. This morning, I found what appears to be a male of the same kind of bird, dead, under the deck. I checked the bird book and do not find a name for this bird. The birds are not damaged...no blood around the beak, no feathers missing or damaged. this afternoon, hubby said there was a dead Cardinal out in the road. I went out to see, and it was actually a thrush...same thing, no damage, just dead.
Who should I call?

And yes, we have a cat who goes outside, but if she kills something, she eats it. Or brings it to the deck for me.

That's really odd. Something is going on. I wonder if it's poisoning of some kind.
Maybe start with a vet? They might have a suggestion who to call. We have a wild life rescue center led by a vet. They usually know what is going on.

I noticed an odd number of dead birds the last few days too. I wonder if the record cold April left the insectivores hungry as they migrated north.

No, desertwoman. I wasted time looking for a group that might be interested. Found an ornathology site but did not contact them. It's not too late, I suppose. I just got busy with other things.

That's a mystery. Hope the cause can be found. Dad always told me that birds were susceptible to a avian form of meningitis, as well as the flu variants they get, which often resulted in uninujred birds falling dead.
