Have you seen this in fine print on some products? While at DS this weekend, we went to Costco. It was a prime opportunity to enlighten him on the GMO issue. He was more aware than I thought and has watched some documentaries. We looked at the labels of every single thing we considered buying, and bought nothing that did not say non-GMO. We also noticed that Costco has mainly farm raised fish, we never did run across any that was wild caught. We were not impressed with the fresh food department. When we got to his house, I started going through his pantry. We found products that said "Partially Produced with Genetic Engineering". Among those were Girl Scout Cookies....what??? And Post cereal, and Nature Valley granola bars..... He immediately put them in the trash. The pantry was getting bare by the time we were done. He didn't even want to give the stuff away, just toss it. Smart man. www.quora.com/Whats-up-with-that-partially-produced-with-genetic-engineering-label-on-food-productsAnd watch out for "Arctic Apples". I have not seen them in the stores yet.

Sometimes it feels like we are banging our heads on the wall but awareness is necessary. I have been more keenly aware of the magnitude of GMOs and it makes me cringe.

I haven't seen that on labels yet but I probably need to look harder.
I generally assume pretty much all processed baked goods available are genetically engineered.
High fructose corn syrup and soy bean products are dead giveaways and are in most processed products it seems

I read labels all the time, when purchasing something new to me. If it has high fructose corn syrup or non- organic soy of any kind I do not buy it. But then I very rarely buy processed foods.

I love these terms they come up with! I guess partially produced with genetic engineering means that every single ingredient is not a GMO item?
Made me think of some meat that I got that had a large label on it stating that it was "Gluten Free".

I'm thinking you're correct pepperhead212And along that meat line- there's also Gluten Free water available! Aren't we relieved for that. I've never noticed the "partially produced with genetic engineering" labels but we buy almost entirely organic food products, from mayo to produce and everything in between. The only time we don't buy organic is if that product is unavailable as an organic- and that is rare. Still, we eat out and at friends homes so there is no way to 100% avoid GMO's. I'm sure a blood test would show I have at least traces in my body.

lilolpeapicker, davidjp, desertwoman, pepperhead212, Here's another one I found last night on a can of Contadina tomato paste. These declarations are below the ingredients list. It says: "Ingredients of the types used in this product are not genetically modified". And it says Non-GMO on the front of the label. I take it to mean that certain ingredients in the product are common GMOs, like soybean oil, cheese from milk, but in this product they are Non-GMO. Funny the things we miss and we think we are reading labels!

It is unfortunate but the Genetic Engineering monster has become so pervasive that it is almost impossible to escape the foods that have been altered today. For example corn. The botanists once thought corn pollen was so heavy that it did not float very far from the plant, but then they found that pollen drifts on the wind for miles and the maize plants in the mountains of Mexico that were supposed to be safe from cross pollination by these altered genes were not. And the people that were supposed to protect us from harm have abdicated their responsibility.
