tendingmygarden, Very nice pics! The Tumeric looks like canna, if I am looking at the right pic? Are ginger and turmeric hardy for you?

Mumsey, Hey Mumsey, I had a visitor to my garden this summer say the same thing about Turmeric looking like cannas. It's a gorgeous plant and huge. Ginger and turmeric are not suppose to be hardy for me. But if it’s gonna live with me, it’s gonna have to be. I’ll let you know next growing season. I have it heavily mulched. Growing in a large container and taking it in for the winter would probably be ideal here, but that’s just not workable for me. Fresh ginger and turmeric are totally different than what you buy in the store. Much more beautiful and much more flavor. By the way, I loved the picture of Princess I saw on one thread — can’t remember which. She has matured a lot. Really looked beautiful. Theresa

Thank you for the link Theresa! What region of Virginia are you located in?

Latitude33 You are welcome Lat. I hope that will encourage you to grow both plants. I know you'll be successful! Regarding my location: If you look at a map of Virginia you’ll see 3 peninsulas to the right. I live in the middle one. The northern part of it; right in the middle. The Potomac River runs between the peninsula I live on and the upper peninsula. Our area is called the Northern Neck of Virginia. I understand you run a Tiki Bar. Really had a hankering for eggnog on New Years Eve, and wanted to enjoy the company of friends while I enjoyed the nog. Somehow, I lost my way and couldn't find your bar. Maybe next time. Wishing you all the best of everything in the New Year and much success with the bar. Theresa
