Mom and I were down at the pond feeding fish. I heard a shrill cry. Mom says hey that cat has something. We started towards it and the cat dropped it and took off. It was a small little cotton tail. On more inspection, we found several half eaten bunnies. I have it in a pet carrier and he appears to be fine. I put some hay, water, a piece of cantaloupe and a Sungold tomato in the cage. I wish I knew where it's Mom was because I would return it to her. I sat down there for awhile hoping to hear its Momma calling it, but I never did. Mom saw another one, but it went into the weeds and we couldn't find it. I'm afraid to turn it loose because I hate to see it get eaten. I know it's nature, but still.
the last time I found a bunny, I was 9 years old and I was chopping curcurburs in a cotton patch. I took it to the house and my uncle told me I should have left it alone. It died a week later.
I'm not sure what I should do. I guess I'll decide by morning.

The little toot escaped from his cage and was sitting on the floor this morning in the shed. I decided it would be best if he was in his natural environment, so I took him close to where I first found him and turned him loose. I didn't see any cats around, so maybe he has a chance. I sure hope so.

The little toot escaped from his cage Well. I guess he told you ;) I think you did the right thing. I would have released him to his natural environment too

Jumping Owl, Survival of the fittest! The bunnies don't have a chance in our back yard. Haven't seen one in quite some time.

No rabbits in the yard here. Some cottontails hang out in the brush along the rivers and creeks in the area. In winter the White-tailed Jackrabbit turns white and you may find them coming down to lower elevations looking for something to eat. Often they will visit farmer's haystacks.

The Princess brought me a present last night. During her last outing for the night she was hunting. I wondered why she stayed out so long. I called her and she came walking proudly to the door with a large rabbit. She dropped it right there and came in the house.
