She sure is enjoying the nice weather! I have to trick her to get her in the house. I just sit by myself with a treat in hand, then grab her collar! She is watching my shinnanigans! I guess we kinda look alike too.....brown eyes.....skinny legs.....no butt.....
gulfcoastguy She is very food oriented, pretty much falls for it every time. To break the expected outcome, I will throw her sock toy a few times with treat reward, then grab her on the last one. So we mix it up a bit. I am determined to be smarter than she is!

My kids don't mind the leash or chain. When we camp, they love being outdoors, but most places require the to be on leash. We have a big plastic mat that is 9' by 12' and we put the big dog bed down on top of it. The big one lays on the bed and my small doxie lays in my lap. As long as we have shade and a cool breeze, we can sit outside for hours.
Yesterday morning Princess went out as usual. Didn't come right back to the door until I made noise with her food dish. 5 minutes later wanted out again. So out she went. As it started to get light, I saw something in the yard. A huge rabbit that met it's demise. That's what she was up to, getting that rabbit! Went out and picked it up, it was very heavy. Then noticed the beginnings of a nice nest under the oregano. Putting 2 and 2 together, I'm thinking this was a pregnant rabbit. There was evidence of a scuffle inside the garden fence near the nest. She can jump the 2 ft fence when she wants to, but never when I am there. Like a kid, does it when Mom isn't looking.
She has scored 2 adult and 4 baby bunnies this year.
Update on critter control. I smelled something "dead" this morning. Looked under the deck, nothing. Went by the water faucet, stronger smell. Found a demised adult rabbit in the cannas. Must have been there a couple days! Cleaned up the area, sprayed the maggots like crazy, covered up the area. Now what to do with a stinky dead rabbit. Quadruple bagged it, it can't stay in the garbage can, still stinks and I have garlic hanging in the garage. So it's in a shady area of the yard. Wouldn't ya know, garbage day was yesterday! I won't even put it in the car to take it anywhere. Gross.
Still, a good dog. So far this year 3 adults (1 pregnant), 4 babies and a chipmunk. Way to go Princess! Quite the hunter.
I don't know if these methods would cover the smell of a dead rabbit, but they were used by my father when the RV park at which he had left his trailer foolishly turned off the electricity and all the food in the frig and freezer spoiled. I had brought him and Mom home when he became ill. He and his friend drove down a month later to close up and drive the trailer back. You can guess how bad the odor would have been after the food was w/o electricity in the April heat of Texas.
Dad and a friend used coffee grounds, wadded up newspaper (which apparently has absorption capabilities), and baking soda. I've used kitty litter in an outdoor storage shed to absorb odor, which it does well.
