So why didn't I find this idea until now? 20 Mule Team borax! Heck, it's been sitting in the laundry room all this time. I will treat all areas with it today. I am still seeing 1-2 fleas a day on the Princess, though they are slow moving and/or dead. We did agree to a one month treatment with NexGuard, first month free from vet. It seemed to help immediately, like within an hour. I just watched some videos on borax, one even suggesting that it be taken in very small quantities for various ailments. Interesting.

also works on ants... diatomaceous earth is pet safe too, and works the same way. I made a point to dust the carpeting of a new house a week before a moved in, vacuum after...

All vacuuming, done, bedding washed. Sprinkled Borax all around, especially at baseboards and around edges of furniture, also in the cracks and crevices of furniture. And under large area rug in living room, under furniture, under bed Did both couches, that's the only 2 things she gets on. Supposed to vacuum after 48 hours. The Princess got a water bath, no soap, followed by weak vinegar rinse, used Furminator and flea comb. Only found 1 flea, looked immature, like it was one that just hitched a ride and hadn't fed yet, the abdomen wasn't full and it wasn't moving too fast, maybe had started to feed and then dying.
So progress is being made! I do know the house has never been this clean!
I guess it took fleas to force me to deep clean. Every day. >:(

My childhood dog got an oral flea pill once per month. It was very effective. He had very sensitive, dry skin his entire life, so we could not bathe him every day or even weekly, or use anti flea dips or shampoos. (He was a mutt who looked like Benji but was gray instead of brown.) He got a bath with special moisturizing soap every 8 weeks when he got a haircut. He Did well on the monthly flea pill and died at the ripe old age of 18.
Please be careful with D.E. and use a dust mask if you use it.

We are flea free! But I am still obsessing about it. Heck, I even dreamed last night that I was flea-combing her in the bathtub and they were everywhere! So I vacuumed AGAIN today. I have vacuumed more in the last month than I have in the last 2 years! And I am still washing her bedding every 2 days. I need to relax now.
