I haven't even been able to go out and enjoy my garden. The mosquitos are so bad again this year. I spray myself up, run out there, do the minimum I have to do and get out of there. They are that bad. Even with the spray!!! Someone on another forum says he wears a beekeeper suit. I may have to look into that HoverBee

Someone on another forum says he wears a beekeeper suit. You might try a mosquito head net.

datgirl , when I lived along the Rio Grande (when we had the orchard) I used netting for mosquitos. The stuff you get at a fabric store. It was long and wide. I anchored it to my brimmed hat, with a hat band and it covered me to my knees. No spray! circa 1999

desertwoman, tom π,I may have to look into something like that. I do have a straw hat I could use. I may have to go to the fabric store this weekend. It's worth a try. I have to do something. Thanks for the ideas.

So I found something that kind of worked. It's a sort of pullover shirt with a full head hood made of bug netting material. If I put a baseball cap on the this shirt thing and spray, I can at least get out there and do a few things. The mosquito's still swarm me but they don't bite. It got a little hot under there but it would be hot without it too. Thanks desertwoman, for the inspiration.

It's time...time, once again, for the roving rafters of turkeys casually roaming the neighborhood, browsing for garden produce. Today it's two big toms and a dozen hens and yearlings.

desertwoman, The Princess sure loves getting in there and prowling around. She does the same in the ornamental grasses, maybe she thinks it's natural hunting grounds! And she never destroys anything, which is amazing.

I found this growing in the veggie garden yesterday. It's growing against the raised bed where the strawberries live. I thought it was pretty and will leave it unless somebody thinks it is bad and should be removed. Mushrooms are an indication of healthy soil...right? DSCF0324 by BLou, on Flickr

There is a spot in the south part of our property where the deer are removing the dirt. They arenβt digging a hole, they are eating the dirt. This hole is about a foot in diameter and six inches deep. My brother tells me that if there has been a salt block in that place, the deer will eat the dirt to get to any salt remaining in the soil. There has never been a salt block in that spot. We do sometimes put out a mineral block for the deer, but it is not so close to the house.
Have you heard of deer doing this?
