I'm getting antsy about replacing my old particular type of military shovel. What I've found on the internet and at our local surplus stores are smaller, thinner, and not likely to last for more than a season or two. The surplus guys tell me that the old Vietnam-era types are being snatched up by collectors, to be sold at premium. Dag-nabbit. I'm not trying to be picky, but dag-nabbit, it's a big deal to me, 'cause it's perfect for me. Dag-nabbit.

I'm getting antsy about replacing my old particular type of military shovel. A neighbor retired from the National Guard might could tell you where to find one.

I don't know exactly what you're looking for, but search for camping shovels or backpacking shovels. Some are really just large spades or oversized tent stakes for specific conditions, but some are actual small shovels, sometimes folding.

I had an entrenching tool myself, but by now it may have rusted out or walked off. Finding such things is often just a matter of asking the right person.
