lisaann yes I'm travelling at the moment, actually sitting outside a nice village pub having a decent pint of beer. Everyone contemplating whether saying goodbye to EU and France which is about 60 miles to the south of me was such a good idea. Weather not so great. Not sure how the plugs are at the moment but they were fine when I left and I think they like the heat and i hear it has been very hot so hoping when I get back they are doing well. Off to an open garden visit this afternoon that promises a good kitchen garden so hopefully it'll be nice

What a fascinating time to be there davidjpThey like the heat, but will need some additional watering while getting established. Hopefully there is someone there to do that for you? Cool, lush England sounds like a good place to be while a record heat wave moves through So-Cal and the southwest.

Cool, lush England sounds like a good place to be while a record heat wave moves through So-Cal and the southwest. Its on an automatic timer and i have someone checking so hopefully its OK. Definitely lush here lots of rain here at the moment, saw some lovely looking salads in the open garden I visited today

Thanks desertwoman for checking back Yes well its doing OK. I still don't have full coverage but its slowly growing together. I like the fact that its fairly slow growing and I've really only had to mow it maybe 4 times this year so far. It also has a nice sward of fine grass leaves. I daresay I could have got better coverage by now but I'm trying to keep it fairly low water so its starting to look a little brown with the extreme heat we've had in the past 10 days or so but was pretty verdant before that. I also have a bit if a problem with rabbits which because it is a nice green area it makes it now that everything is naturally dry and brown, a sort of rabbit oasis. I don't mind really as they aren't destroying it but I think it has delayed full establishment. All in all I'm pretty pleased with it so far and its definitely capable of using far less water than even my previous Bermuda lawn which was actually fairly drought tolerant.

Well, there are some people who are worried about their lawn mowers. There are manuals for their repairing.

desertwoman no, brother was mowing and it suddenly went up in flames! Glad Dad wasn’t on it. He couldn’t have jumped off fast enough.
