he and her son are going to come over tomorrow, a couple of times, and "aggressively spray" the chickens as they wander in. She should be careful that it is a warm day. Soaking chickens with water can really chill them and cause all sorts of effects on their health.

I watched her today and I don't think the chickens got soaked. It was a short forceful blast with the hose to scare them off. She seems to think this works. I have no idea if it will. And it was a lovely day. I will pass on the warning, however. That is good to know and I don't know if she does.

I actually just read that today, in my Backyard Poultry magazine. It explains why my chickens will stay inside if it is raining but will go out in snow.

Why did Beethoven hate chickens so much?
Because all they ever say is "Bach Bach Bach"

I took the plastic off of the kennel greenhouse this morning and intended on draping the smaller sections and some bubble wrap over the clothes line when I noticed something underneath. I immediately stopped as it's very close to the fence line and the first thing that popped in my mind was a coyote. Thankfully it was just a chicken missing a few feathers. Neighbors are at a doctor's appointment so keeping it occupied until I can see if it's one of theirs.

Well the chicken doesn't belong to the neighbors so looks like she may be staying. I can get within three feet of her and she seems to follow me around so we shall see.

emmsmommy, a little food and water every day and you’ll have a gardening buddy. Or chicken dinner…

Well evidently our chicken is a... rooster. He crowed yesterday. He's missing tail feathers, has a strawberry comb and I didn't see any spurs and he's very tame. Who knew? We're still keeping him around.
