We had to go to Tallahassee for a VA appointment for DH and there was a gal in my email group that was looking for Fire Bush, which is a Fl. native. So I decided I would drop by the Native Plant Nursery down there. It is different than most nurseries....it's an area that has been carved out of the woods and everything is as native/natural as possible. So as I'm walking from our truck towards their building what do I spy but a group of....you guessed it, fire bush! I picked one up and continued towards the building and an employee came out, took my plant to put on the counter. As we are walking, and since I'm there, I asked if the native azaleas were still out back, yep...right through the back door. So she followed me out and I got a yellow one and a reddish orange one. As we are heading back in something else caught my eye so I asked, what is this....fire spike! OMG, I've been trying to locate some of this for a couple of years, do you have any in pots (this was planted in the ground)...we sure do, in various sizes! So a 4th plant added to my pile....at which point I decided I'd better quit!
Orange azalea....$11 Yellow azalea.....$10 The other 2 were $7 ea.

Those are beautiful! I want some but if they are native to Florida they probably won't survive NYS weather. OHHHH maybe there is a weather resistant variety. Very nice, Karen.
