I've seen cranes in water around Nashville TN, they are really beautiful birds. Maybe Sandhill Cranes?....

Last year I had a flock circling to get lift that we finally determined was Wood Storks.

And I once saw a whooping crane when I was a little kid. My Dad took me to a farm pond that was hidden back behind some woods to show it to me. At that time, it wasn't a big deal and I didn't realize what a special treat I was seeing until I was much older.

I actually think that the Enlist herbicide is an improvement over the generic 2-4D products that are commonly used. Less volatile and drift prone. The big concern is that the approval of 2-4D tolerant corn (which is supposed to be sprayed with the Enlist product) will be sprayed with the cheaper and more drift prone generic stuff. This would also result in much more frequent use during the growing season. Specialty crop growers are very concerned about this.

I got the surprise of my life on Friday morning ,a huge crane was standing in my backyard. I have a city size lot, completely fenced in, my raised bed takes up 1/2 of it. He is standing there then starts walking around, we were completely taken aback. It was like he/she was looking over the yard and garden and then flew off over the top of our house. We couldn't believe it........ All I can say is amazing.

DW, I know !! It was a wonderful moment. I keep looking for him/her each morning, hoping to see it again. I keep wondering why it came into my yard.
