Yesterday saw sweetheart heading off to spend some time with the lady she calls mother as my nephew and 2 of my grandsons were coming over to watch football and smoke some beef burnt ends. The combination of cold temperatures and impatience with the process contributed to the burnt ends not turning out as tender as I wanted but that’s how we gain experience I guess. Besides watching football we did get all the water tanks and heated buckets going for the horses, chickens and barn cats. The evening ended with bowls of ice cream over right out of the oven brownies. I have much to be thankful for…….

Today, I noticed again that the epazote in the front flowerbed is still growing, after 3 freezing nights (and several close to freezing), and a lot of new growth on both plants. And these are fairly tropical plants! I cut off almost all of the new growth - I just left the rest, with the seeds all over, wo it can become a weed, maybe. Red Oaxacan epazote, still growing, and no browning, after 3 freezing nights! by pepperhead212, on Flickr Another plant that I can't believe is still living is a volunteer dill plant (started after I pulled up some tomatoes), that has become huge, for a dill, and I keep waiting for it to bolt, to save some seeds, and it's just not bolting! I might dig it up, and put it on the porch, as it is supposed to get down to 24° in a couple of nights - even colder than the other nights, so far. A very large dill plant, with no hint of bolting, or browning, after freezing 3 times. by pepperhead212, on Flickr

Today was a “do nothing” day. I think I might still be recovering from turkey day prep. I know I overdid and got really tired.
I did get a seed order sent. And the essential oil company that I purchase from is having 25% off today. They do a 25 days of Christmas with each day having a different sale, so it’s kinda like trying to decide whether to purchase today, or wait to see if a better offer comes along.
Some folks buy shoes and purses. My weakness is seeds and oils.

We drove the last 537 miles today from Kingman AZ. Sure is good to be home! There was snow on the ground! leftover from the storm they got Friday after Thanksgiving- neighbor just told us it was 5-6 inches!

Kiddo was back to school yesterday as Thanksgiving break is officially over. My cough and post nasal drip was pretty much over until this weekend and now it's back with a vengeance. I was chosen to participate in a zoom conference later this morning and hoping I make it through without coughing. The reward is a $25 Lowes card and I plan to use it towards either more lights for seed starting or another shelving unit for the same. I was pretty good during the seed sales and only placed an order with Pinetree and MIGardener as they were having a 20% sale and free shipping over $20. Mainly onions, shallots, beans (of course), purple kohlrabi and a few misc things. Still need a few things from Baker Creek but will wait at least another week or so.

Today is "Giving Tuesday". As in "giving" to "me" - lol!!! Mr. Breezy & I made our traditional pre-Xmas Costco shopping trip this morning & not only got everything on my Costco list, but - as usual - a bunch of other stuff.
Mr. Breezy gifted me with a nice navy "Nautica" brand lightweight weatherproof winter jacket, as well as a nice tea/olive green "Vintage" brand lightweight weatherproof winter vest for pennies vs. what they normally cost. My older-than-Methuselah vest has a broken zipper & I gave away my old yet usable weatherproof winter coat to last year's local coat drive. Do have a really nice down-filled Eddie Bauer 3/4-length coat, but that's definitely not an everyday around-the-house wear. I needed something that wouldn't make my cry if it got dirty or damaged - lol!!
Costco also thankfully had their usual large lovely fresh decorated mixed-greens wreath & huge lovely poinsettias, so one of each of those went into our cart as well. I also grabbed my usual 3-pack of Boursin for around $10 (where at regular supermarkets they're around $8 for just one). Then of course there were crushed red pepper flakes, sea salt, Himalayan Pink salt to replenish, & a pint of shucked oysters, & a 2-pack of Rana Lobster Ravioli. We never walk out of there with just what's on our list. Then we stopped at Total Wine for some good Ruby Port & some Merlot & Chablis & headed home.

Our kitchen electric wall oven died about 2 1/2 years ago. Because of limited availability and small size needed, we’ve been limping along with a countertop French door oven. The supply line seems to have opened up and hubby found one that “should” fit the existing opening. It has been ordered.
When it became apparent that we were cooking the Thanksgiving dinner, and that involved using the electric roaster for the turkey and the countertop oven for rolls and stuffing, we spent some time testing circuits, making sure to not put too much burden on same circuits. Mission accomplished, but conversation the next day included the word “remodel”. From me.
It’s amazing how just the right word can get the ball rolling. I just hope it fits the opening. The spec sheet indicates that it should. 🤞

Yesterday was our usual day to have the 3 year old grandson for the day and it was quite cold outside so I did the chores as needed then hung out with him and grandma. Not a bad gig when you can get it…..
Today it’s still cold but I had two dr appointments, first was a follow up for appendectomy and the second for a sleep apnea study. The first one went well but with the recommendation of 2 more weeks of less than full duty. I’m not happy about it but will abide the best I can. The second visit netted us a machine that I’ll be hooked up to tomorrow night as sweetheart says that I quit breathing in my sleep.
Tomorrow the FIL and I are going to wander around a farm show but first we’ll stop for a big warm cinnamon roll and coffee. What a great way to start the day……

warm cinnamon roll and coffee. What a great way to start the day…… I couldn't agree more!! Two more weeks of taking care and operating at partial duty will be over before you know it and all this recovery will be in the rearview mirror. Think of it as a gift to Sweetheart as well as yourself. The complications and setbacks that could arise from overdoing would be worse than the frustration of being limited for 14 more days, don't ya think?

After 2 days on the road all we wanted to do was chill at home. Stayed in our robes until 1PM then made a quick run to the library to pick up a book on hold (the hold time was to expire after today) and grocery store for a couple of things, to tide us over. I love my down time. It replenishes me for the next rounds.

I decided that I'd need better bandwidth to do my zoom conference and hubby was called to do an electronics pickup so to town we went. Ended up ten minutes late getting logged in because my phone wouldn't install zoom and kiddo's tablet said zoom needed updated. So it was a waiting game seeing which one would install first and thankfully it was the phone. I provided a bit of input and I guess am now part of the "inner circle" of the garden program.
Went to harbor freight to do one of the final Christmas Store purchases and went to Walmart to pick up a few staples. Had all intentions of stopping and redeeming a $25 meat gift certificate our neighbor had given us but drove on by the store and completely forgot about it. When we were loading the electronics, one of the ladies handed me a large box and said it was for kiddo and I. Found a Scentsy snowman warmer in the box, many snowman ornaments and stuffed toys, cookie cutters, stockings and an absolutely beautiful light up snowman banner that kiddo fell in love with. The banner is in her room and the stockings and cookie cutters will be donated to the school Christmas store. Also set up two more tax-exempt accounts online for PTO and one only took 15 minutes to be approved while the other will take 2-3 days. I can honestly say I truly appreciate the stores that still accept a paper exemption certificate but just glad to be getting this set up.
No bus again this morning so kiddo gets to sleep in for a few minutes as we take her a bit later than she usually arrives. As for me, the sinus pressure has let up but still coughing through the night. No plans for today but I'll definitely be staying in as it's 15° outside.

the sinus pressure has let up but still coughing through the night My sister has caught something similar. The day of her doctors appointment it let up. Doctor said to take musinex. Cough and sinus came back a day or so later. Been going on for a month and she has been coughing so hard she scares herself.

I still have a little bit of the cough, but not like it was. My PCP called in some Ampicillin and it finally kicked in. Feels so good to have some energy back and not coughing so hard. Yesterday took kitty kat in for pre-op blood work. It did not go well. They will draw blood the day of her spaying while under anesthesia. After I brought her home, I ran back out to pick up some groceries. Not sure what I did the rest of the day until 5 pm when I took granddaughter to her cheer leading class. I need to decorate the Christmas tree, just can't motivated to do it.

datgirl, glad you're feeling better. gardendmpls, I feel for your sister. Hubby had a sinus infection for months and even after steroids and antibiotics it just kept coming back. ENT doctor gave him samples of a stronger nasal spray that insurance still refuses to cover but it worked miracles. Since the sinus surgery he's had very few issues. As far me I think it's mostly the dry heat that's getting to me. Hooked up humidifiers in the living room and bedroom this morning in hopes that it helps.

Started on the huge pile of laundry and got 2 loads done. I have a library book that is a few days over due with someone on the wait list for it, so I felt the obligation to get it finished today. Good excuse to take another easy, slow day.
