We've been seeing pheasant strutting around the neighborhood. I seriously envy you!!! Growing up on Long Island, Ring-neck pheasants were extremely common - even visiting our bird feeder with their chicks. And twice I actually got to raise broods of chicks after once coming across a nest that had been molested by a cat with a few casualties, & once when a pre-hurricane had us with a cluster of chicks hovering at our back door with no female in site. They were a delight to raise (luckily we had an empty chicken coop & run at the time). Here in Virginia we've seen a few male Ring-neck pheasants once in awhile, but they've obviously been escapees from local hunting preserves/game farms. It's sad, because I'd love to seem them reintroduced here.
