That's a great solution! pondgardener , and just as an fyi...I've had to bring plants indoors, after being outside hardening off , when typical Rocky Mountain surprise frosts and snow arrives in May (even have had them arrive in early June!). They do fine with low light for a couple of days.

Inventive, to be sure, but when I go out of town I just have a friend or neighbor take care of them. They know they'll reap some of the reward for doing so.

I'm going to start making a list of outdoor protection for plants when sudden weather presents a threat. I need to create a reference guide from these great ideas.
And have a good, and safe trip and a wonderful reunion with your family.

pondgardener, I just leave mine on the garage floor during cold spells. They have been there since Tuesday night and won't come out until Friday morning. They will be fine in low light as desertwoman says. Slows down their growth for sure, but that's a good thing when they were getting so big in the house!
