Eugenics is nothing new. The experts have always tried to "improve" our species, and many civilizations did it with whatever technology they had available at the time. The bottom line seems to be that we need some major improvement. Can hardly disagree with that.

As octave said this is nothing new, just a different approach,. Eugenics has been touted for a very long time, supposedly even by the romans. Early in the 21st century there was a Eugenics Society promoting selective breeding on the basis that if it worked for animals it would work for humans. But probably the most egregious practice of this was by the Nazis in Germany in the 1930's and 1940's. This is a bit different, however, in that corrections to DNA would be made, and this was being talked about even before the DNA gene sequence was complete.
