Even back in the 1970's when we were developing the standards for Michigan Organic Growers we rejected the term "natural" as having no meaning.

Right. I questioned the guy at the meat counter one day, "What does natural mean on this chicken?" He couldn't give a clear explanation. I guess it means it's a chicken and it's from nature, not necessarily free of chemicals.

Keep in mind that most of the chicken you buy today is raised in factories and not on farms. The turkeys you buy at the grocers are raised in factories as well. There is nothing very natural about most of the foods we have access to today unless we raise out own or can find an organic grower.
