I didn't do much today - did as much as I could yesterday, since today is supposed to be the warmest of the year, so far, and humid, as well. First day I've turned on the AC, mainly to get that humidity out of the air!
I got some photos, of the tomatoes and okra, while out there, and repaired a leak in the T-tape in my herb bed, but didn't do much else! I did set some short watering cycles for two areas that have seeds, since the surface is drying out. That should jinx me - the heavy rain didn't look like it was going to come through here much, but it should now! lol

A nice restful Sunday. Admired my Son's handiwork on restoring some of the essential parts of the garden pathway last week for the benefit of my old crippled self. Good to go for a busy week. The kids are alright.

Was going to take myself surf fishing yesterday. The grunion were running and that always brings bigger fish in close to shore. Then, I looked at the overgrown landscape around Casa de Lat and thought, late afternoon fishing is good too....several gardening hours later, yours truly was too dang achy to lift a surf rod. Removed the dying annuals, cleaned up the grape vines, planted dahlias, mint, calendula, hollyhocks, nasturtiums, another pineapple, radishes and some lettuce for the feathered girls. Cleaned the coops, hauled the compost to the CG where I harvested fennel, a couple zucchini and the last cauliflower of the season. Watered everything only to have it rain overnight. Rain this late in the year is almost unheard of. Today, helped at a local school with their Spring Festival and was invited to participate in their school garden project and of course I accepted. I get it...strong back, weak mind.

Ripped out the stunted peppers. No, they didn't grow back after the stem was gnawed on. Never got taller than 6-8". So I'm starting over. Lesson learned.
Ripped out the spinach that was bolting, too.
Transplanted the rest of the tomatos, one lettuce, and 3 lupine, which don't like the climate here. I should stop beating my head against that wall.

Harvested the last of the Black Seeded Simpson lettuce, watered watermelons and butternut squash, and sowed Shanty Pea field peas. I need to do something about bean beetles.

I carry a hoe when I go to the mailbox. I usually see work to do when on my way to and from. Today there was a squashed possum on the road, so I did my civic duty, and with the hoe moved brer possum into the ditch. There is a story here. Something had been eating my garden peas, and the damage appeared to be from chewing rather than pecking, so I think that possum was the one that was eating my peas.

In the garden, planting, ready to water things in...forgot to turn the water on, as usual. "Alexa: turn the water on!"...no response. 'Cause Alexa doesn't live here. So all the way back to the spigot I go. At least it's more good exercise, the everyday forget-and-remember back-and-forth routine. Keeps me fit. ;)

Spent yesterday afternoon outside. Mowing, trimming, weeded the onion patch, pruned Tri-Color willow bushes, which are way beyond a bush. They got some serious haircut and may get another one. The wind today is destroying the lilacs. Glad I cut some last night for us and a neighbor.
Spent Sunday making, re/making living room curtains. I re-used the lining for the new ones. I get curtain panels and make them into what I want. It took the longest to rip apart the old ones to salvage the linings! That lining is good stuff and was cheap by the yard and has never faded or shrunk. Didn't get them all done, got the rest done today. Curtain panels are less expensive than fabric by the yard, especially for a bigger project. I had to have 7 panels that were 50" wide and of course they were 84" long with grommets. Hate grommets. Cut those off, they wouldn't work in the living room anyway. But I liked the curtains, and I don't need 84". The cut off hem end turned into tie backs. I may use the remaining fabric for throw pillow covers. I washed a leftover piece, it did wash up nice.
Got the curtain panels at Lowes, but wasn't too impressed with the sewing quality. Every single panel was not square and the edges were not even. They are now.
The curtains that were there were remade 3 times over the years, same fabric but different lining each time. Time for them to go.

I spent about 5 hours outside. It was more a puttering kind of day: dead headed the 2 lilac bushes and cut out some branches, pruned 3 rosebushes, and got 2 of 11 lavenders cleaned up and pruned back some. Monitored the acequia water running through our feeder ditch. And started hardening off the tomatillos starts. It was a good day.

Tried to log in, repeatedly, but generally couldn't even get to the log-in page. Same problem with the BP Forum. Finally got logged in now, late in the day. Sometimes I could log in but couldn't post; responses just sat and sat as if stuck in neutral.
Anyone else having log-in problems?
