We don't grind coffee, but I use an old electric coffee grinder to grind up peanuts when I make my suet blocks for the birds in the winter. Since I use lard as my base, I can't put my homemade ones out until after we stay below 80º or they melt in nothing flat.
Didn't do anything much today, yesterday was a trip to Tallahassee for DH an appointment at VA....and my Costco shopping while he did his appointment.
On Tue. I planted 4 - 4' rows of green beans, 4 - 6' rows of English peas, 1 - 4' row of radishes, 2 - 4' rows of carrots and 2 - 3' rows of spinach. I was going to plant my cabbage, broccoli & lettuce starts today but it has been rain off/on most of the day and got hot when the sun did peek through. So maybe tomorrow on those. I still have some mater plants that are blooming and have a few small maters set on and the bell pepper plants are starting to go crazy...picked 17 one day last week.
Now I need to see if Dixondale has their starts ready to order...last time I looked, they didn't!

Today I planted a row of hazelnuts. Hope to have a row of hazelnut bushes along the fence in spring.

My row of radishes is up, my row of Bloomingdales spinach is up and I saw one green bean pushing the dirt away.

It all started at 4 a.m. with The Princess licking my face. Got up, had coffee. Did some laundry, noticed the basement needed more attention. Sorted out old towels, washed a load to donate to the animal shelter. Cleaned the spare bedroom, moved furniture around from room to room. By 11 it was dry enough to go out and start in the garden. Ripped out all the peppers, eggplant and tomatoes (after picking all that could be rescued). Ripped out the zucchini, pollinators are slow these days. Found 2 huge zukes in there. 4 trips to the tree dump by 3:00. Then went to a friend's to see her new grandbabe.
Amongst all that, a roast simmering for veggie soup tomorrow. Ham shank in the crock pot for tater soup. That will be tomorrow as well, running out of steam.
Gotta go walk The Princess now.
Then I'm gonna have a beer!

Well, made really good progress in fall garden clean-up. Finished pulling the last of the tomatoes and pepper plants, and a few other scragglers. Pulled weeds and got produce off the ground, leveled out the wood chip covering and did get compost layered where the garlic will be planted in a few weeks. Still more to do, but making some progress.

Everything is fading out here. I watered a few things that aren't on drip and pulled a few weeds. It's getting time to prep my garlic bed and start pulling things out. There's a cold snap arriving tonight (no frost yet, but into the 60's for the next few days, with cloud cover and rain. SO I will wait for it to warm up again (and it will) and then it will be time to put the beds to sleep with their blankies.

I am helping my son study for the insurance boards. I had no idea what I was getting into. We spent hours today on Auto insurance, from 10:00 am until 7:30. I am whipped.

I gave my coffee grinder away. It just made too much noise in the morning!

It just made too much noise in the morning! I can understand that...but hubby likes the ritual of grinding and making coffee. And it's such good coffee!

I grind mine before going to bed, then set the auto timer on the pot.

I had a roommate for a while that had a pot that would grind and brew with 1 button!

Got a lot more done today than I expected to. Cut down the peony bushes, dug up a lot of weeds, put some of the summer furniture away. . Washed down the tomato cages with a bleach solution and put those away. Played with the dog for awhile. I just put pork chops in the oven and taking a few minutes to catch up with a glass of wine. My weekends are just not long enough.

datgirl Wash the tomato cages with bleach solution? I've never done that. Should I? For years, I used to make "cages " with stakes and jute twine and threw the twine away each fall. Now I have sturdy cages made from the wire they use for concrete pours. Never gave it a thought I might have to disinfect them with bleach.
