So what was the general consensus on these. Worth growing, may try and get some seed for next season

Of course it was a bad weather year but I was not impressed with this variety. Maybe they need New Jersey soil and I live in PA. NJ soil is very sandy and is said to grow exceptional vegetables.
Both the Rutgers 250 and the Rutgers produced good tasting but smaller tomatoes than I like and I will not grow either of them next year.
I really do like the hybrid Jersey Boy which is a cross between Rutgers and Brandywine. Excellent tomatoes and a good producer.

I'm going to save seeds from this one today. I'm saving seeds from this one because it was LATE, but still 7 ounces, and that impressed me. You know how some tomatoes get smaller as the season winds down, but this plant kept giving a decent size for late in the season. Early ones ranged 10 to 12 ounces, which is typical of this variety, which is a semi determinate. My plant held up very well compared to the regular Rutger. Sweeter than regular Rutger. And my regular Rutger got way smaller end of season fruit than the 250. It still doesn't beat Big Beef, but I'd do it again. I'm forgetting something here. Can't think what at the moment.
