This graph really caused me angst...we have finite water supplies and we don't protect them as we should. With these levels, has anyone escaped contamination?

Any information about total herbicide use? Perhaps glyphosate has been used in place of other active ingredients such as atrizine and 2-4D in recent years.

To my understanding 2-4d was just approved for use on the roundup ready resistant weeds. The uses for roundup have increased. They use it as an anti desiccant just prior to harvest. (Just in case the first spray in the growing season did not leave enough)..on wheat, soy, potatoes, garlic..and I'm sure that there are other crops as well

Back in the 1990's researchers at Iowa State University found that many of the "weeds" the glyphosates were used to control were already developing immunities to that control and that immunity has increased as more and more of the poison has been used. So now you mix 2,4,D with glyphosate and create what? Keep in mind that mixing things like 2,4,D and 2,4,5,T plus other stuff, Agent Orange, was not supposed to be harmful to humans.

Use of 2-4D is nothing new. It is commonly used to control broadleaf weeds in grass. Also widely used to kill weeds prior to planting many annual crops. The new Enlist branded corn is tolerant of 2-4D, so now spraying growing crops with 2-4D will be possible.
As for using a dessicant prior to harvest, I can understand why someone would want to do so. I lost 20% of my oat crop this year because of weed growth that made harvest impossible. This was due to excessive rain delaying harvest, which gave the weeds time to grow. An herbicide application would have allowed harvest to occur.

2,4,D is not new. I can remember that stuff being sold in the late 1940's. It was not then, and is not now acceptable to any organic grower.
