I don't need to spend $119 to know it is in my body. They have been around too long.

So so true. If I'm going to spend $119, it will be to support education for the value of organics.

I don't see any point in testing. How would I get rid of it if I knew it was there?
Testing for it serves no purpose in my opinion unless you are part of some scientific investigation and someone is using the data.

As for what GMO crops are out there, aside from herbicide tolerant crops, BT corn and cotton are widely grown. The plants produce the same BT toxin that organic growers use to control cabbage worms.
GMO technology is also used to introduce desirable traits from other genetic lines of a plant type to increase yield, add drought tolerance, etc.

And what would I do when the test turns out positive for glyphosate? Sue Monsanto?

I'm getting the test because my wife and I have been trying to eat all natural foods for the last few months. I would like to know that I'm not wasting my time and money. We filter our water and don't buy any processed foods. If it's still in my system then I'm going to stop trying so hard...or try harder lol

Ever eat out at a restaurant? Ever eat a a friend's house? Ever eat catered food or restaurant food at weddings, work events? Ever eat at a potluck? Were you fed all organic food all your life? Ever stop at a Wawa/Sheetz/Turkey Hill/7-11 on a road trip to grab a cup of coffee and a snack? Drink beer/wine/spirits?
I'm not saying that you shouldn't feel really good about growing your garden and not purchasing processed foods. You should feel good about that. I do the same thing. But because I also lead a pretty normal life I do eat in restaurants on occasion. I am invited to weddings and birthday parties. I have work meals all the time at restaurants or catered in. I regularly drive across PA, the tri-state area, across large swaths of the country, with my MINI friends and I'm living on convenience store coffee and the "healthiest" road food I can find. I love my cocktails and to a lesser extent beer and wine. My exposure to all types of pesticides is higher than I would like to dwell on. Yours probably is higher than you think, too.

PA- I don't think you are wasting your time and money. And I don't think you can flush all the possible toxins and gmo residue from your system, no matter how diligent you are or what cleanses you may do. But by taking control of the food you buy and grow and put into your body is a good and noble thing for all kinds of reasons as stated in above posts, and more. And it certainly reduces what you take in and mitigates the effects on your body.
Like restless, I do the very best I can and don't sweat what I can't control. I believe this is all any of us can do. I want to enjoy a meal out and attend functions at family and friends. But at home I am almost 100% organic in what is stocked in my cupboards and frig. Everything at home is made from scratch with whole and organic foods. I figure of the 21 meals plus snacks I eat each week- all but a couple are at home. (or from home- I pack lunches and snacks and a thermos when I go to town or am on a road trip) But I thoroughly enjoy my meals out, be they at restaurants, someone's home or an event.

I do the same thing as restless and DW. I cook from scratch at home and we eat as much organic food as possible but I don't stress about it if I am away from home. It's just too limiting.
Believe it or not we all probably have DDT in our systems too through no fault of our own. I feel that limiting the amount of chemicals that I ingest from now on has to be helpful to my body and it's the best I can do.
I don't know how quickly glyphosate breaks down in the body, it may be years so if you did find some residue through testing, it would not mean that you are not doing a good job with your new lifestyle. It might be a lot worse if you hadn't taken steps to eliminate it.

Another thing is also that we need to continue to work hard at trying to eliminate poisons from our life and the lives of our children especially if it alters DNA or causes cancers and suffering. We may not succeed in our lifetime but maybe in our kids or our grandkids. Ya can't stop. We have to try and make things better for the future.

Ever eat out at a restaurant? - Not in the last year Ever eat a a friend's house? - NO. I'm a very picky eater Ever eat catered food or restaurant food at weddings work events? Ever eat at a potluck? - Not in the last year Were you fed all organic food all your life? Nope, but I'll only eat organic food for the rest of my life. Ever stop at a Wawa/Sheetz/Turkey Hill/7-11 on a road trip to grab a cup of coffee and a snack? - Only stop there for gas. Drink beer/wine/spirits? - Only Rain Organic vodka and homemade wine.
I used to be very unhealthy. I smoked Newport 100s (cigarettes) and drank redbull daily. I ate fast food 9 meals out of 10 and liked my Jack Daniels. I was also usually depressed and had G.E.R.D. so I threw up just about every morning.. I really did a 180 with my life and feel a lot better for it already. I'm sure if I have any glyphosate in my system it is a LOT less then I used to have. If I have any in my system at all now I would be surprised. It's supposed to leave your system fairly quickly according to the studies I have seen.

Good for you, I am glad you stopped smoking and are eating better! It sounds like you are feeling much better now. I like to get out and about a lot more than you, though! I like going to some of the wonderful bars and restaurants we have in Philly. I also love eating at my friends' houses. Some of them are excellent cooks.

Yeah I do feel a lot better without all that unnatural stuff going into me. I don't live somewhere cool like Philly and most of the people around here suck so I have never liked going out. I do host drunken karaoke parties at my house and serve organic alcohol. People are welcome to bring their own stuff also but they usually just drink mine. Oh and I can cook anything at home that is just as good as any restaurant ;) I'm the best cook I know.

It's wonderful that you made such a drastic change in your habits. The simple fact that you feel better should tell you that you did the right thing. That's better than any lab test!

Yes, pa, you made remarkable strides with what you have accomplished. That IS something to be proud of. Congratulations on that success.
